Correlation Coefficient r and p-Value

Correlation Coefficient r

A correlation coefficient measures the relationship between two variables. Positive correlations occur when one variable increases as the other increases or decreases as the other decreases.  Negative correlation occurs when one variable increases as the other decreases. The strength of the correlation depends on how close the points are to the line of best fit.

p-Value

The p-value is the probability of finding a result or even more extreme than what was observed when the null hypothesis is true.
